At Prime Roots, we are celebrating the culture of meat. Established in 2017 in Berkeley, California, we've taken pride in our Bay Area roots. Founders Kim and Josh met at UC Berkeley and built what would become Prime Roots at Berkeley's Alt: Meat Lab. This is where they discovered that through koji, we can create a foundation for meats that are better for the planet and the people that consumed it. Now in 2022, we are bringing the world's first non-animal sliceable deli meat and an array of charcuterie products to the market. And we cannot wait to bring our Koji-Meats to every city in the country.
But first up, San Francisco! Launching in the Bay Area of California felt like a no brainer to us. Given that this is our backyard, we were able to partner with Prime Roots employees' favorite sandwich shops and restaurants. It's become quite a "pinch-me" moment to see Koji-Meats available in the foods we crave. Josh remarked after having a Vegetarian Muffuletta from Bi-Rite Market, "I cannot stop smiling from that sandwich!"
